CAROLINA HERRERA S2013RTW

One who likes to focus on a more traditional style of beauty, Carolina Herrera will guarantee that her gowns will possess that elegant, chiffon-type groomed look that was once synonymous with the old school glamour of the early 1900's. Without being too obviously girly and overly-youthful, its a sort of "how-a-1920s-flapper-wearing-miss-would-dress-today" look.
For this season, Herrera has decided on a mixture of earth tones and pastels with the occasional shock of a bright burnt orange and red shade. I really like this collection, it's in such a contrast to my main front runner, Marc Jacobs, that I'm left feeling that for this upcoming season, anything will go!

Throughout this line, there are lovely little details like an embellishment collar on a blouse or a heavily embellished belt which gives the outfits a more dimensional feel without being too overpowering and without loosing the focal points of each outfit. The shapes of the dresses are classic, with the one-shoulder, floor length gowns having a tight waist making them rather sexy and daring - well, as "daring" as Carolina Herrera can be! Some of the tops and dresses in particular have little darting lines of colour, almost as though they've been taken directly off an abstract artists' canvas.
Overall, there is a womanly sophistication present throughout the line, even the models have that sleek hairdo with very natural make-up therefore taking the look easily from the colder seasons into the blossoming springtime. Plus, that pale green blouse with that beautifully shining collar (above) is TO DIE FOR! This is a CONFIDENT collection.
